Which is right for me, Mac or PC? While both have their merits the practical approach may be the best approach. The real question here is what the practical choice is for you.

Mac computers are great. They do not have as many viruses as PCs. Many people find using a Mac easier than using a PC. They are built well and have good support through Apple and some Mac enthusiasts to boot. So why would anyone consider a PC?

PCs are riddled with viruses and do not always make it as easy to get something done as you might like. True? Not necessarily. While it is true there are more viruses for PC than Mac, do you know why that is the case?

PCs have more viruses than Macs for, among other reasons, one very big reason: there are many, many more PCs in the world than there are Macs. If you were after banking information, social security numbers or just wanted to wreak havoc in general who would you target? On the one hand there is the majority, the Windows PC users, and on the other there are Macs among others.

In the work place, with some exceptions, many companies utilize PCs running Windows. When you write an email and send it to someone do you want it to be usable by the recipient? How about when you send a document to someone, do you want them to read it?

It is true that Macs and PCs can exchange information between one another, but it is also true that this is not always as easy as you may think. How many times have you used one version of a program only to receive a file created in a newer version and you are unable to open the file? How about the full feature set of the program the file is made to work with? Do you believe that this compatibility problem is only experienced with a PC? Is it impossible for Mac users to experience problems with PC users, or PC users to experience problems with Mac users?

It is not impossible, and sometimes not much of a hurdle, to use one versus the other. The fact is a new Mac can run Windows too. A PC can run things other than Windows as well. The Mac running Windows is still going to be susceptible to ails that a PC running Windows would be. So what is the difference?

The real difference is your own preference and your own needs. Before investing in one it is advisable to research the subject, talk to informed friends and colleagues, even use the products or seek out demonstrations, workshops and courses. The one thing you do not want to do is to fall victim to hype.
